What Are MRE's

Meals Ready To Eat, commonly referred to as MRE’s are individual field ration in a lightweight packaging. They are the brainchild of the United States Department of Defense for its service members for use in combat or other field conditions where traditional food facilities are not available or practical.
MREs do not need to be refrigerated; can be eaten right from the bag or heated with flameless heaters even boiling water. The new MRE’s of today are much tastier, better nutrition and varieties of those in the past. Developed and used by the United States Army for Special Forces and Ranger patrol units in Vietnam. Today’s MREs are also distributed to civilians during natural disasters, food shortages. MRE’s are popular among law enforcement and fire agencies during long operations such as wildfires.
