Home - Should we prepare for 2012
Does December 21, 2012 spell disaster for the world?
As if the bank failures, real-estate fiasco and the stock market crash of 2009-10 weren’t enough, now the internet is buzzing with so called doomsday scenarios for 2012. Many spiritualist are sure the end is near and the Maya's "Long Count" calendar marks the end of a 5,126-year era and reverting back to”0000” on Dec. 21, 2012. There are a number of websites claiming a number of wild predictions that mankind may have to deal with. Of course for a couple hundred bucks they will either provide you with the guarded secrets “How to Survive 2012” or for a few thousand they will allow you seating on their private spaceship for evacuation. Of course the present whereabouts of theses “EVAC-Ships” is kept secret until 12-21-2012 in the event they are NOT needed!
According to Sandra Noble, executive director of the Foundation for the Advancement of Mesoamerican. "For the ancient Maya, it was actually a huge celebration to make it to the end of a whole cycle, and "to render Dec. 21, 2012, as a doomsday or moment of cosmic shifting, she says, is "a complete fabrication and a chance for a lot of people to cash in."
Part of the 2012 mystique stems from the stars. On the winter solstice in 2012, the sun will be aligned with the center of the Milky Way for the first time in about 26,000 years. This means that "whatever energy typically streams to Earth from the center of the Milky Way will indeed be disrupted on 12/21/12 at 11:11 p.m. Universal Time,".
But scholars doubt the ancient Maya extrapolated great meaning from anticipating the alignment — or if they were even aware of what the configuration would be.
Astronomers generally agree that "it would be impossible the Maya themselves would have known that," says Susan Milbrath, a Maya archaeoastronomer and a curator at the Florida Museum of Natural History. What's more, she says, "we have no record or knowledge that they would think the world would come to an end at that point."
While it’s doubtful that anything will actually happen to the world as a result of 2012, preparing for the unexpected is always wise. With all the talk about 2012 there is the possibility that it becomes a “self-fulfilling prophecy”. With all the bad things going on in the world you almost have to wonder if we’ve brought some of it upon ourselves.
2012 will certainly bring out the whackos, and hoodlums – As we get closer to the December 21, 2012 date it surely will bring out the craziness. The closer we get to that date, the more people will start to blame every little anomaly on the “end of the world.” When that starts to happen a certain segment of our population could start to act out and become a threat to your survival.
You need to be prepared to protect yourself and your family from these possible dangers that may lie ahead.
Crazy weather patterns and earth changes – A number of prominent scientists have suggested that disruptions in the solar cycle have already started to wreak havoc on the earth. While they are only theories at this point, many have blamed the earthquake in Japan and New Zealand on an increase in solar activity.
So what does 2012 have in store for us? Only time will tell, but if you haven’t started preparing for what’s ahead your time may quickly be running out. The Japan earthquake, tsunami and resulting nuclear disaster woke a lot of people up to how quickly things can go bad. Remember, bad things can happen at any minute and even if we don’t buy into the whole 2012 Armageddon thing you should be prepared for emergencies and disasters.
Here is how to get started. Long term food storage and drinking water for you and your family for 6 months to a year. First aid supplies, alternative energy such as generators and batteries, a quality survival kit for the home and in your car. This is a good place to start preparing for the unexpected.
You never know what the next disaster will be, where it will hit and when it will happen. Remember when a disaster strikes it’s too late to prepare.
